Soil Science Course

SOIL SCIENCE LONG COURSE
This course is designed to increase you knowledge of soils, the life forms that live in the soil and how to improve the soil. The cost for the course is $10.00. This includes lunch on April 2nd and materials for all sessions. Seating is limited. Preregistration is required.

Saturday April 2nd
Gordon Johnson, University of Delaware Extension and farmer, will discuss the basics of soils and soil science. This course will be offered at the Food Science Technology Building on the UMES Campus. The session will run from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm.

Wednesdays April 6th and 13th
Ted Wycall, a local farmer, will discuss cover cropping systems, how to improve the soil and interpreting soil test results. These sessions are offered at the Richard Henson Center, Room 1111, on the UMES Campus from 7:00 until 9:00 pm.

Wednesdays April 20th and 27
Bessie Green, UMES Researcher, will talk about the life forms, microbes and animals, living in the soils. She will discuss methods to increase the beneficial forms and manage the ‘bad guys’. These sessions are offered at the Richard Henson Center, Room 1111 from 7:00 until 9:00 pm.
