Their organic vegetable and grain operation utilizes a small portion of the 600 acre Cutmaptico Farms owned by Aaron’s father, Clifford Cooper. The land has been farmed by the Cooper family for over 150 years. Vegetables and grains have been grown in varying proportions during that time. As Aaron works toward making farming his main livelihood, organic crops are being selected as the best value-added venture. Organic string beans and edamame soybeans are rotated with field corn and wheat. Aaron is currently transitioning additional land to organic production. Program offered in partnership with the USDA ARS Beltsville Agricultural Research Center, the University of Maryland Extension, and the Maryland Department of Agriculture.
