UMES Small Farm Series
Small farmers on the lower Eastern Shore of Maryland can bank on the benefits a series of upcoming events for the month of April will bring. Beginning Saturday, April 2, and every Saturday thereafter until Saturday, April 23, the Small Farm Program at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore will host informative, hands-on workshops and field days.
The 2011 Small Farm Series is sponsored by the UMES Small Farm Outreach Initiative. This grant-funded project was established to help small-scale and underserved farmers prosper and become successful agriculture entrepreneurs through education, training, and outreach. Currently, the project provides on-going outreach and program activities that address a variety of issues and
needs as identified among target audiences, including alternative enterprise selection, direct marketing strategies, improved agriculture production systems, farm business management, better management of natural resources, and participation in USDA farm programs.
For more information about these events and more, contact Farm Management Specialist Erroll Mattox at 410-651-6206 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. To preregister online for one or all of the workshops, go to www.umes.edu/1890-mce. Pre-registration is required!
