Ecological or environmental stewardship addresses the ways in which humans use the land and natural resources to work with local ecology and natural systems in meeting the food and fiber needs of populations. The goals of environmental stewardship are to preserve natural systems, take from them no more than is given back and, when possible, improve soil, water, and air qualities through their use. LESSON works with these organizations to understand the ecology of the Delmarva Peninsula and the Chesapeake Bay watershed and to educate the community about the integral relationship between agricultural practices and environmental stewardship. |
